Book Review Of "Fire In The Ice" by Katlyn Stewart
I have read Ms. Stewart's book Nightmares Echo (non fiction) as well as her newest book, a contemporary romance novel "Fire In The Ice". Ms. Stewart has done what many authors can not do, go from non-fiction to fiction with ease. I thought Nightmares Echo deserved high praises, Fire In The Ice also deserves high praises.
Fire In The Ice is about two people with such diverse backgrounds; one is Josh, strong, determined and carrying the load of the pain of the past regarding women and two, Deedra, a girl that spent her childhood changing her life, marry a wealthy man and be conditioned by what he expected.
His death spirals her out of control. Until Josh enters the empty hearted world of Deedra. She finds something about him she can not resist, but tries her best to fight. In the end, Deedras life comes full circle.
This book is absolutely marvelous, leading you in a unique direction from most romance novels, is packed with passion and intrigue and a stroyline you will not soon forget. Especially the charcter of Josh. He is such a force in this book he was almost real.

"An excellent novel that will wring tears of frustration and pain
and then tears of joy from the reader.'Fire in the Ice¹ is a perfect title for this book.
The passion, confusion and anger that the main character (Deedra) felt,
along with her pain over the loss of her parents and the death of her husband
caused her to cover her heart, lock it away and live only through
a deep survival mode. (Thus the "Ice")
Encountering Josh, she became filled with fear at what could be her first
experiences with real love and true passion and she nearly loathed him for
disrupting her carefully constructed world. However, Deedra was not along in her fear
of feeling Josh too lived through a horrendous relationship that left him wary
of commitment. Her constant rebuttal was hard on Josh, who was used to getting
what he wanted, but his persistence and love released her from her own prison and helped
Deedra realize that she had never really lived at all but only existed.
None of Deedra¹s journey through her Self was possible without the loyal support of her dear
friend, Marcy.
This romance novel had some very steamy parts (the "Fire") that, though not over-used,
were certainly so well written that this shy reviewer was blushing
furiously while reading them much to the amusement of my husband!
Katlyn Stewart has done an excellent job pulling the reader into the lives of her
characters and feeling their pain and elation. I would not
hesitate to pick up another title authored by Katlyn."

FIRE IN THE ICE
Deedra,the woman whos life became empty early in life with the loss of her parents is not ready to face the world alone. She leans on her co-workers for some sense of direction and comfort. Later, falling in love with the owner of the restaurant named "The Fireside",Craig Marlan. Though much older than she is,Craig provides her with the protection and guidance she so desperately needs at this time in her life. She has two girls with him, and takes on the role of mother and housewife. Satisfied with her life, things are going well as is the business.
Until the horrible day when she is told her husband was killed in a car accident. Leaving her alone again, only this time to raise two young daughers.
Deedra is able to take control and continue raising her children. Running the restaurant, with the help of her best friend Marcy. Marcy stands by her friend, but notices that Deedra is living a closed, sheltered life. Marcy tried to get her outside the shell she is comfortable living in, but has a hard time doing so. Until one day!
A long lean gentleman walks in to the restaurant. Deedra knows this man is different than the others that have frequented the place. This man has caught her interest, but Deedra is determined not to let it. She fears that there would always be pain in loving again.
Josh McKenzie is this handsome gentleman. He also feels the connection between them. He never imagined how much effort it would take to convince Deedra of that. Would Josh be patient enough to find out?
After getting to know Deedra, (with the help of her friend Marcy), Josh comes to realize he will wait as long as it takes. He knows he can break through the hardness she shows; someday.....
I never thought of myself as much of a reader. I never allowed myself the time to do so. This book "FIRE IN THE ICE", however, changed my motivation to read once again. I can honestly say that my emotions ran right along with the characters in this book.
So much so, that I couldn't wait to find the time to continue reading on. Believe me, when you begin reading this romance novel, you wont want to put it down either. Congratulations Katlyn Stewart on writing this wonderful book.

When Deedra’s husband dies in a car accident, she wants to die with him. But, she had two daughters to take care of. Deciding the best thing to do is take over the running of The Fireside Inn, a restaurant that her husband owned, Deedra loses herself in her work.
Her friends think it’s time for her to start dating again, but she just can’t, until Josh McKenzie walks into the restaurant. Deedra’s world is turned upside by Josh, but still she fights her attraction to him. Take the ride with Deedra and Josh as they fall in love, and overcome some major obstacles to find their happily ever after.
Fire in the Ice is a touching story of finding love for the second time in ones life. Katlyn Stewart has once again created a story so wonderful that you won’t want to put it down once you’ve started reading it. It is truly a great read.

Fire In the Ice is the story of Deedra Marlan and Josh McKenzie. Deedra has had many losses in her life. First her parents while she is still young and then the man, her husband that saved her from that pain of loss and loneliness,Craig Marlan also dies in a tragic car accident leaving Deedra alone once again. This time with children and a large business to run. Deedra becomes hard and bitter. Deciding that she will never be hurt again by the loss of love or life again.
She, However, never imagined Josh McKenzie would enter in to her silent world. Though he is a rough and hard man,he is willing to do whatever it takes to win Deedra over. This book takes you through all the pain and ordeals each of them faces in life to find each other.
This book is erotic and passionate and has a tremendous story line that fits perfectly within this book. The Characters are not only "believable" but almost come to life before your eyes. There is as I stated before passionate erotic inturlude mixed with emotions of love,hate and fear. Deedra and Josh finding each other is not an easy task, allowing for a great storyline capability. I applaud the work of Ms. Stewart and the detailed work she has put in to this Contemporary Romance with a bit of difference in direction then that of most Romance Novels. I rate this book as extrememly high on the list of must reads by Romance Readers that want mystery,intrigue,hate,love,passion and finally...a wonderful ending.
