A VERY SPECIAL LETTER AND REVIEW
ANOTHER SPECIAL LETTER REGARDING NIGHTMARES ECHO

NIGHTMARE'S ECHO is a continuous series of events that furthered her father's abusive act evolving into spousal abuse and failed marriages. But what could have led to a point of no return was altered when a caring man entered Katlyn's life. If anything we learn from this genuinely honest reflection of one's life it's that we must not allow others to manipulate us. We must love and respect ourselves so that we can love others. That our self-esteem is the internal force that fires up our will to live. There are important lessons to be learned through Katlyn. If you want to touch upon heartbreak and believe in the power to overcome abuse and live the most rewarding life possible, read Nightmare's Echo.

Katlyn Stewart, author of Nightmares Echo, received a letter from the offices of Florida First Lady, Columa Bush:
On behalf of First Lady Columba Bush, I would like to acknowledge the announcementof your book. The publication of "Nightmares Echo" is clearly the culmination of a child's frightening, confused journey. Katlyn:
I just wanted to write and let you know that I read your galley proof of your book and found it to be excellent. They writing style and clarity with which you wrote your story is powerful and makes it easy to read. I appreciate the fact that you concentrated on the psychological impact the abuse had covering only enough of the physical aspects of the abuse you needed to in order to convey the message of what type of abuse occurred. Well done.
I have worked in the field of sexual abuse for 25 years so have read many books and articles on the subject, many written by those who were victimized. It was a refreshing change to pick up a book that I couldn't put down until I had finished it. For me that is rare! The simplicity and honesty of your writing presented a very clear picture of the life of the little girl that strived to survive. I will certainly be recommending this book highly.
I work with a high percentage of Native population in very isolated communities. I always look for resources that are appropriate to recommend and this certainly will be one of them.
I thank you for your courage and strength and congratulations on being able to share your story for others to learn from.
Good luck on this book
Take care & keep safe

What An Emotional Roller Coaster!
Lynn Young
Oklahoma, USA (9/30/2003) This book is a touching and sad story of one persons trials and tribulations with all forms of abuse. Written in a matter of fact style, with true emotions. I would recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with abuse or does not understand how hard it is to break the cycle. Ms. Stewart has made it clear! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Recommendation: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Lynn Young is the Managing Editor of The MWLA Review, a Reviewer and Editor.

Nightmares Echo hits the nail on the head!
Jenna
Ohio (9/28/2003) I would like to comment on Nightmares Echo even though I am not a "Reviewer". But,As a member of a mental health facility I believe I can speak regarding this book of Ms. Stewart's. I have dealt with many patients, mostly in the addiction area of mental health, at least 75% of these patience have been abused in some form, and at least 40% were children of abuse...molestation, sexual abuse, incest. Ms. Stewart;s book gets to the heart of the story. She is clear and concise in her manner. No beating around the bush making you wonder what she is trying to say. She does a brilliant job showing what it is like for the victim on a daily basis. She teaches us not to judge our fellow man regarding thier additions/homeless life styles. She warns the reader of the teenager, the woman the man...caught up in the Nightmares that just won;t end. I have seen it first hand. She is a brilliant writer, and deserves all the recognision possible. i would like to see this book become the text book for mental health, Doctor's,Hospitals, patients...I could go on. I am that impressed. Jenna Armstrong

Nightmares Echo - by Katlyn Stewart
When I was a psych student at UMASS, I had to read a book on child abuse and all I can say is that the university should throw away that textbook and read Nightmares Echo instead. This was an insightful look into a very disturbing aspect of our society, but from the view of the victim (or should I say, survivor), rather than a third party clinical view. Katlyn pulled me in as the reader and kept me there until the last page was turned with vivid imagry and smooth storytelling. I'd definately recommend this book to anyone who wanted to not just "see", but "understand" a tragedy we have around us all too often. I'd give this a 5 on a scale of 1-5. Nightmares Echo is the heart wrenching account of an abused childs experiences from puberty into adulthood. Children who are abused often find ways to retreat within themselves from the pain. Once they are no longer in the abused situation they believe life can return to normalcy and that happiness will come. This is a misconception though, because abuse takes on many forms and these kids are mostly lambs to the slaughter when it comes to dealing with complications in their lives.
Through the eyes of the young child in this book the reader understands the true terror and disillusionment that scars an innocent soul when those whom they trust hurt, terrorize and seek to maintain the illusion of a normal family. This child took on the guilt for every misfortune that befell her and little by little she came to believe that she was undeserving of a good life. Only with the love and care of someone whom withstood the test of time does she find her way for a chance of true happiness and is acquainted with the courage that she possesses. This book is revealing in that it gives a true picture of the long lasting and devastating effects of abuse that follow these kids into adulthood. Adults are after all grown up forms of the child that dwells within.

*Nightmare's Echo is the silence that never dies. A reverberating cord
that strikes deep into the core of being, down where the spooks and
demons lie dormant, waiting.....always waiting....
That a Dragon Fighter should slay such a beast is in itself an amazing
feat....but when it is an ordinary woman....what can one say? I am
left without words...without breath.
Such courage to face the monster and win!!
This is a story that should be mandatory reading in all schools, and
by all parents. A book well worth reading, and remembering. Written by
a true Warrior Woman it brings hope where none exists, truth where all
are blind, and a way out of the darkness.

The author bares her soul in this life narrative. Nightmares Echo proves that one person can make a tremendous difference in the life of another, in a positive or negative way. Stewart had both. This book will encourage readers to be good to others, because you never know how much your kindness matters. This story also sheds light on possible causes of some people's behavior, so we can step back and not judge how they compensate for their pain. (I read this book in one sitting. I had to know the ending!) Reviewer: Patricia Nelson from Author of Cool Spring (authorden.com)

I JUST FINISHED READING THE BEST BOOK I HAVE PICKED UP IN SEVERAL YEARS... NIGHTMARES ECHO. YOU KNOW A BOOK HAS GRABBED YOU WHEN YOU CANNOT PUT IT DOWN . I PICKED THIS ONE UP AND STARTED READING AT 5PM AND FIVE HOURS LATER I WAS ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN WHEN I HAD TURNED THE LAST PAGE AND READ ALL THERE WAS OF IT. THIS BOOK IS MUCH MORE THAN A BOOK IT IS ABOUT STRENGTH AND LEARNING TO DEAL WITH ALL THE THINGS IN YOUR LIFE THAT WOULD BE EASIER BURIED. I THINK THIS BOOK SHOULD BE IN EVERY BOOK STORE NATIONWIDE. IT COULD BE A GREAT TOOL IN HELPING ANYONE WHO HAS DEALT WITH ABUSE CONFRONT THEIR DEMONS AND COME TO TERMS WITH THEMSELVES......GREAT BOOK ......WILL BE WAITING FOR NEW WORK FROM MS. Wow of all the people that I dunno that my sis sent emails to that replied to her in my email... I open 1 from someone who is truly a kindrid soul.. that monkey on your back forms and shapes who you are in this life and it surely isnt pretty... kinda ironic that I opened this email and not any of the others yet dontcha think? as I sit here in tears and wonder why after ALL these years I have kept this bottled up inside me.. the shame the hate and bitterness has eaten at me for 32 years now.. I have blamed and resented my father for abandoning us.. had he not this evil wouldve never happened to me.. I am certain there was some divine intervention here cos normally I delete email from people I dont know.. I plan to return to your site, I saved it in my favorites and also plan to read your book cos I know I need help, have lived in my own hell and worn a mask all of my life and I'd like to thank you for your courage and strength in sharing your pain to help others such as myself.. God bless you sweet lady[; *hugs* anna~

I am the woman you met today at Hunsaders. I have read excerpts from your book and absolutely love it. I used to think that I had been dealt
a bad hand, but nothing compares to what you have gone through. I think
it is great that you can write about it. When I had Cancer last year I
went through a depression and I live with the constant fear that it will
return. At least you are free. Please let me know when the book is
available at book stores. I definitely want a copy. It was an
inspiration just talking to you...Jeanie
